Software description: 1. Spelling-checker for the Romanian language The Romanian language has two important particularities: the pronunciation is almost the same as the written form of the word, and the words have many different forms during flexion. The method used for spelling is based on the distance between the words. A dictionary for the Romanian language cannot store all the forms of the words, each word taking many different forms during the flexion, which strongly increase the size of the dictionary.The dictionary stores the roots of the words and references to the corresponding endings. The dictionary used by the spelling-checker contains about 20,000 entries. Availability: for commercial use. 2. Multimedia editor for teaching foreign languages. The system contains an editor for creating or modifying multimedia lessons (LESSMAKER) and an a module which offers assistance for knowledge testing (LESSVIEWER). The lessons integrates text, image (static or dynamic) and sound. LESSVIEWER offers a set of useful dictation exercises for teaching a foreign language. A dictionary of word prononciations is available to the student. The student can compare its own records with teacher's records. Object oriented application written in Microsoft Visual C++ for Windows operating system. Availability: for commercial use.
