Center of Computational Linguistics at the
Faculty of Humanities, Vytautas Magnus University was founded in 1995 with
the aim to compile a big monitor corpus of the written contemporary
Lithuanian language. During the period of 3 years it collected a
well-balanced archive of a great variety of texts amounting to 50 million
words. Besides, the team was engaged in some other activities such as
concordancing of the last transtation of Holy Bible into the Lithuanian
language, preparing a multilingual DB of the terms of philosophy,
compilation of limited parallel corpora and Lithuanian variant of COBUILD
Student's dictionary. Tha two latter activities were performed in the
framework of COPERNICUS concerted action TELRI (Trans-European Language
Resources Infrastructure). The Center also participates in TELRI follow up
actions such as TELRI Association and ELAN (European Language Activity
